Challah (Processor)Cuisine: Parve Category: Breads Servings: 16 Ingredients:2 pkgs or 1 tbs1/2 cup water 1 tbs sugar 1/2 cup sugar 7 cups bread flour 2 tsp salt 1/2 cup oil 2 eggs 1 1/2 cups ice water Instructions:Processor method: Proof yeast. In 1/2 cup of warm water (110-115 degrees) add yeast +1 tb sugar. Let stand for ten minutes to proof. It has to foam. With S blade in processor add flour, sugar, salt and process for 20 seconds. Add oil and eggs and process a few seconds. Open tube and while machine is running pour ice water in a stream as fast as flour can absorb. Continue processing until dough forms and cleans sides. Add 1 or 2 tbs flour at a time if dough is too sticky. Turn out onto floured kneading board and knead adding more flour until dough is smooth and elastic. Place in lightly oil pan and cover with saranwrap loosely. Let rise until double in bulk about 1 or more. Punch down and knead and cover and let rest 10 min. Divide dough into 4 balls. Form each ball into a challah Cover with wet paper towel and let rise again until double in bulk about 40 min.
