Kasha VarnishkasCuisine: Parve Category: Side dish Servings: 8 Ingredients:1 cup medium or coarse Kasha1 large bermuda onion 2 tbs olive oil 8 oz bow ties 1 tsp kosher salt 1/4 tsp pepper Instructions:Saute chopped onion in oil. Boil water with a little salt. when water is boiling add kasha and continue to boil for 3 min. Taste kasha to see if kernels are soft, if not boil another 1 min. Drain immediately. Add to sauted onions and simmer stirring constantly until kasha is not wet. Add salt & pepper. Boil water & cook bow ties til al dente about 12-15 min. drain. Add to kasha onion mixture & simmer & stir constantly to absorve all liquid. Taste & add salt & pepper and a little conola or olive oil to taste and mix well. Can be frozen.
