Tomato SoupCuisine: Parve Category: Soups Servings: 6 Ingredients:4 tbs margarine1/2 cup chopped onions 4 tbs flour 1 cup parve milk 3 cups water 1 bay leaf 1 1/2 tsp sugar 1 1/2 tsp salt 3 cups tomatoes chopped or 28 oz tomato puree 1/2 tsp baking soda. Instructions:Melt margarine in soup pot. Add chopped onions & saute til soft not brown. Sprinkle flour over onions & whisk in. Continue to stir for another 1 or 2. Slowly add milk, bay leaf, sugar & salt. Continue stirring until slightly thickened. Stir baking soda into chopped tomatoes and slowly add to thickened mixture in pot. Stir until it starts to simmer again. Remove from heat and puree. Adjust seasonings to taste.
